Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
